Christmas Concert

At Saint Patrick's we have a Christmas Concert each year. I have made a invitation for my Mum and Dad for this special time. You are welcome to come along and watch.

My Chromebook

Kia Ora. I have Chromebook that I like so much. In Room 5 each student had to answer this question How has having a netbook, connected to the internet, helped my learning this year?

It’s is faster. Google is just right there at you tip of your fingers so I can get my work done faster. I just need to put in  my key words and then skim and scan and I've find the answer.

It helps my friends if there netbook is dead because I can just search it up what they need then get on with my work. When  you write in your book it is just too slow but when you type it is more faster.

I use short cuts get somewhere in the internet faster. My documents are already saved so I don’t lose them and I can go back to them and use them to study.

I get comments on my work from my teacher to improve my learning on any doc. If you have a sentence that you don’t want there and you want to put in the bottom you just need to highlight then ctrl c (which is ctrl copy) to copy and put it where you want to put it by ctrl v ( which is ctrl paste)to paste.

You could do your work anywhere in the world but you have to internet. If you have you have a book and you need to have it marked by your teacher but you want to put some more in but you can’t or if  you have a computer and internet and a Google account you just need to sign in and change it. My favourite thing about my chromebook is my bookmarks, it gets me to other sights more faster.

Peace Will Win The War

We are learning about the people of advent. Isaiah have talked about what will happen if God will be on earth.  Nations shall not lift a sword to other nation witch means there will be peace and no war.

My Feather

In Room 5 we are trying to understand the important's of the Maori cloak. I know I have learnt this when I know what is on it like feathers and who wears it like chiefs , leaders , special and important people . The cloak is only worn during Matariki when the seven star's show up and other special days. Feathers can be put on a Maori cloak's so I have made a paper feather and drawn what I have done this year. 

My Learning Journey

This is my learning that I put on my blog. I have pin pointed the places I have talked about in my learning.

A Conch

We are learning about instruments from different cultures. I know I have learnt this we I have made facts and a picture of what it is.

1. This instrument is called a Conch.

2. This is played when people dance or on a special day or in war. 

3. It has been here for centuries.

4. Different kinds of cultures have used a Conch including Tonga , Hawaii , Maori , India

   Nepal ,  Korea ,  Japan

5.A conch sound’s like a horn but is actually a shell.

6.Animals can use a conch shell to live in like a hermit crab and a conch which is a variety       

of snail’s

7. A conch was first found in Hawaii.

8. A conch its long it’s spiral with a  tapering tip called a spire.

Communication

We are learning how to communicate with each other. I know I have learnt this when we have made a letter or make something to communicate with each other. I made a letter from the Red Dwarf Star to my parent's of what I am doing.

Saint Paul

In Room 5 we are learning about Saint's and Inspiring people. Saint's are inspiring people who are servants of God.   I know I have learn't this is when we have made a creation of a Saint to tell about there lives. Me and my buddy Johnnie have drawn and made our own creation of Saint Paul using Blabberize.  Hope you enjoy.

The Constellation Of Genini

We are learning about constellation's.A constellation is made out of star's and is a picture of something like the southern cross.  I know I have learnt this when I have made my own. This my constellation of Gemini using a film canister.

A Structure Of A Persuasive Text

We are learning how to write a persuasive text. We had to complete a conclusion of an persuasive writing. I know I have learnt this when I can finish of a persuasive writing in my actual writing.

Water+Sugar=

We are finding out what is the best way to dissolve sugar into water. I know this when I have done a fair test. This is a slide show this our fair test.

Jesus Enters Jerusalem

This week I have been learning about Palm Sunday and how Jesus entered Jerusalem. To show our learning we made a news papers , cartoon strips ,or a  post card that showed what happened on Palm Sunday and how Jesus entering Jerusalem.  This is my News Paper

Rua Kumara

We are learning how Maori people use to preserve food back in there time. We got into groups and each got a question and my group's was How Does Maori People Use Rua Kumara To Perserve Kumara?
We made a slid show about our question and how make a Rua Kumara. We also made a model.

Wash your hands

We are  learning how to build a contraption to wash our hands using less water. I know when our contraption is good is when it has soap, uses less water, and  cost no money. So we made a tippy tap. You will need a water container , soap , gravel , nail and a candle, string tools to dig and 2m sicks 2x and 1m 2x. This is our tippy tap

      

My Buddy

Today Room 1 came in to our class and we chose buddy. We took one picture with me and my buddy and taught him how to use web cam.
My buddy Soane likes chocolate and when he grows up he wants to be a BMX rider. This is our photo of us.

Separate

We are learning hoe to separate insoluble liquid with filters. I was trying to separate a glitter mixture. I know I have learnt there this when I have made a filters and check if it has worked. Here is picture of our filter.

AFOREST With No Trees

We are learning to use AFOREST in a persuasive text. I know I have learnt this when I have used AFOREST in a persuasive text.
This what a forest means

Alliteration- It means some word that start with same letters- e.g Willy Wonka went to his wonky workshop
Facts - You give facts about what you are writing about-e.g The bible was the first printed book since 1500
Opinion - To give a opinion- e.g I think we should start school early to get more work done
Rhetorical Question- To give question but the person to not answer - Was that ?
Emotive Language - To change some ones feeling- With just one dollar you could save a persons life.
Superlatives - The best or worst of some thing-e.g I think starting school early is good and the best for us
Threes- To use the same words three times-e.g 7:30 is cool , 7:30 is awesome ,  7:30 is the bomb.

Eat Healthy And Respect God

We are learning about foods that are healthy for your body because God made us in his image So we have to respect God. We need  to respect our body by being healthy. I know this because I know what foods to eat lots of and so some foods to at sometimes. This my food pyramid.  

Ads

We are learning how to discover why we have adds, how they attract attention and who they target. I know I achieved this when I can explain what the add is about and who it is targeting. This a picture of what add I have been targeting.

This add is about a mini toy racer.

It is targeted for people that have babies that like cars or babies who are bored each day or if parents don't have a present for there baby on their birthday.

My Persuasive Text

We are learning how to make a structure of a persuasive text. The structure we used had a thesis, three reasons and with each reason it had three facts or examples, the last bit was the conclusion. I know I have learnt the structure of a persuasion text when I can write a structure of a persuasive text. This is my persuasion map.

Maths With Area

We are learning about area. I know I have learnt this when I have estimated, measured, compared to other people and took a photo of my work. This the work I have done.

Respect the Lord And Your Neighbour

For R.E we are learning about respect and what is the true meaning of it. I know I have learnt it when we have made our golden rule. Our digital learning shows a brain storm of what group table thinks what respect means 

My Cool Goals

We are learning  how to write our own goal for term three. I have written my maths, writing and reading goals.I know I have learnt it because I have persuaded a person to like what I like , read two types of texts and can solve a maths problem using two strategics. Here are my goals.

My goal for writing it to persuade  the person using my words and vocabulary .This is important because just in case another person is doing something crazy and I can persuade the person to not do it. The steps I will take to achieve my goal will be. I will learn more vocabulary and try to persuade a person to like something of mine.

My goal for Reading  is to read Two different types of texts in 1 each week.This is important because I can read the newspaper  and see what is happening in the neighbourhood just in case there is a burglar on the loose.The steps I will take to achieve my goal will be find more texts to read different texts each day,Read the texts to my sisters or brother s each night.

My goal for Maths is to use two ways to solve maths problems.This is important because if someone takes my strategy I have another one. The steps I will take to achieve my goal will be  find out other  ways to solve the problem and get a equation to solve.

Areas

We are learning how to use non-standard measures to find the area of a shape. I know I have learned this lesson when I can do the 6 steps which is to draw a shape, take a picture, make a estimation, check, take a picture with the people in the area or shape and make a statement.This is my statement we estimated that four people could fit in the oblong or the shape which was the area our estimation was right. This is the ovals photo that they took.

 

Kill The Germs

 
We are learning how to wash our hand the right way. We he have to wash our hands to not spread germs and sickness. We did an experiment with glitter. We had the glitter as germs and see where the germs are going.  I have made a presentation to show the correct way to wash your hands.

Maori Style

We are learning how to introduce our self in Maori. I know I have learned how to introduce my self in Maori when I can say my mihi in Maori and English. I have made a presentation of my self in Maori and English.

Graces of Anointing of the sick

We are learning about anointing of the sick has its own special graces. I know I have achieved my learning is when I have all the graces of anointing of the sick. These are all  most of the special graces.
Courage, love , strength , comfort , faith , hope , forgiveness and more. This my picture of my graces.

Healing Prayer

We are learning how write a healing prayer. I know I can write a healing prayer when There is a thank you,for healing us. Reflect on the sick person. Ask for someone to get healed and to promise to change.

Healing God,

Thank you God for the doctors and nurses who look over Nelson Mandela. Also thank you for the people who looked after me too. Please heal Nelson Mandela  who has lung problem in his body. Give him strength to get threw the the problem. Help all those who are dealing with the same problem. Look over Nelson's  wife who is watching him suffer. Help Africa to keep on going without him.

We are learning  how to make a synonym wheel because we want to make our work more exciting .We had  to make a synonym  wheel that changed a boring word into exciting words.

On the afternoon of Thursday 23 May Mrs Richardson showed Room 5 a video of a man cross hatching. Then we tried ourselves. Mrs Richardson gave us special pencil to sketch with. Mrs Richardson told us to do light then darker and darker. This is my drawing.

Smart Comments`

We have been learning to write smart comments on other peoples blogs.A smart comment is writing something positive and thoughtful comment a the post and only the post. We are creating a positive digital foot print when we leave smart comments. We are cyber smart.

My comments are smart because it is positive and  specific, I have introduced myself.  I have made a connection with the writer about the post and added a question at the end of the comment.

Reaching For The Stars

WALT:

write goals to help us measure our learning. Mrs Richardson told us to write goals to track our learning in term 2. These are my goals.

My goal for writing is to use right paragraphing .This is important because people will be interested in my stories and know where to stop when it is the end of the sentence.The steps I will take to achieve my goal will be Look at the dictionary to find what the word means.Read my sentence over so I can know where to put the correct punctuation. Find other sentence opens and use them in my stories.

My goal for Reading  is to finish one chapter book each week. This is important because when I go to college I will have to read bigger  chapter books. It is also important that I read lots because we are reading to learn. The steps I will take to achieve my goal will be read more  chapter  books each night read six or seven chapters from a chapter book and read everyday.

My goal for Maths is to finish my basic facts between three or two minutes and to know my 13 and 14 timetables. This is important because I can get a fast time in basic fact test and I can get good results  in the math tests. The steps I will take to achieve my goal will be to do math actives online. Do my basic facts homework sheet. Each day learn my timetables.

Keeping some things Private and sharing my learning

We have been learning in cyber smart to create a positive digital footprint.  I know when I have a positive  digital footprint  when I see smiling faces, no silly behaviour , doing things together , and sharing and keeping some things private.

Happy Saint Pats

Hail glorious Saint Patrick! the whole school sang. It was because Friday March 21 was Saint Patricks Day. Saint Patrick school gathered at church to celebrate a beautiful wonderful day. While

we were singing Father Michael and the altar servers processed towards the altar. As time went we sang , read the bible , and received the bread and wine but know it it time to say the sign of the cross and start a fabulous exstremly greatful Saint Patricks Day!!!!.

Sun Shine Online  is a good really good reading site. It helps people from level 1 to 30 in reading. There are heaps of books. I have been reading I Want to Act it is about a girl named Angie she has a friend named Lisa. Angie likes acting. She is going to New York and is worried about starting a new life at acting school. Lisa is also worried about losing her best friend.
